Poffies, better known as “Poffertjes,” is a Dutch Dessert, which is very popular in Holland as well as Australia. We got the idea for Poffertjes while we lived in Brisbane, Australia.
Poffertjes are very popular at the markets in Australia because of it’s, obvious, delicious taste and the fact it can be eaten as a quick snack in the morning for breakfast or as a dessert to satisfy that sweet tooth in all of us.
Poffertjes are made with very similar ingredients as North American pancakes, but with a twist to make them a lot lighter and fluffier. We serve our Poffertjes the traditional way, which is with a generous amount of butter and icing sugar. The second way we serve them is with butter, banana, nutella, and fresh whipping cream.
