Vancouver Christmas Market Reviews

  • December 20, 2012 - Huffington Post - Top 5 Vancouver Christmas Events
" Imagine you're in a quaint little village tucked away in the town of Göttingen, Germany. Now forget the pricey plane ticket to Europe, and head to the courtyard in front of the Queen E for the Vancouver Christmas Market."
  • December 14, 2012 - Vancouver Lookout - 360 Views of Vancouver
"Christmas is coming, with the Vancouver Christmas Market being the perfect place to do your holiday shopping."
  • December 13 - The Food Gays
"The Vancouver Christmas Market is pure foodie heaven, offering up everything from traditional German candies, waffles on a stick served with your choice of fresh whipped cream, syrup, cherries or chocolate – to hurricane potatoes, fried and dipped in different flavors."
  • December 12, 2012 - Ch@nky Monkey
"The market is certainly a feast for the eyes, especially when you're looking for ornaments, decorations, and unique gift ideas this holiday season."
  • December 1, 2012 - 604 Pulse - Exploring Vancouver's Backyard
"Something magical has taken place in the plaza of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in downtown Vancouver. Seemingly overnight, the plaza has been transformed from an urban space to a charming winter village complete with children’s carousel, beautiful music and tasty treats."
  • November 28, 2012 - Eyes Bigger Than My Stomach
"Full of traditional wooden booths offering an array of German foods and crafts as well as live music and Christmas trees covered in twinkly lights, you can’t help but fall into the Christmas spirit. The market is kid friendly, with a big old fashioned carousel for the young and young at heart alike. Adults can indulge in a more “grown-up” beverage while browsing all the stalls. "
  • November 27, 2012 - The Girl in the Yellow Dress
"The sites, the sounds the smells! Christmas has come to Vancouver in the shape of a real German Christmas Market."
  • November 26, 2012 - Gastro Fork
"I think there is no better way to experience European delights than through the vendors here at the Christmas Market."
  • November 25, 2012 - Living fabulously and frugally in Vancouver
"Carousel rides, mulled wine, baked apples, oh me oh my, sounds like Christmas nirvana and oh yes, it’s all here at the Vancouver Christmas Market at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza. Unlike the other Christmas markets I’ve shopped at, the Vancouver Christmas Market offers you unique gifts which I haven’t seen anywhere else"
  • December 21, 2011 - North Shore News
"Christmas Market is a hit. The German-themed market debuted last season and has fast become a staple... After a recent visit with my extended family, it's easy to see why. My suggestion for visitors is to go hungry - and thirsty."
  • December 20, 2011 - Vancouver Observer
"Last minute shopping, or a sudden craving for juicy German sauages. Whatever it is you'll be sure to find something at Vancouver's Christmas Market."
  • December 19, 2011 - Smelly Danielly
"All the crafts and items they were selling were beautiful. Christmas ornaments, wooden carvings, stunning scarves, hand made soaps. I wanted it all! Over all it was great to visit, and so inexpensive, even with out the groupon. I’m glad we finally made it down to the Vancouver Christmas Market this year!"
  • December 13, 2011 - My story to you...
"Every Year, the city of Vancouver holds a Christmas Fair. It boasts some of the most incredible handmade crafts and traditional European dishes and toys, it’s always loads of fun because the people are friendly and it’s always great to see that the tradition of creating crafts by hand is still going strong in people’s hearts."
  • December 12, 2011 - The Inspired Biologist
"The market itself is a great weekend or after work visit with lots of traditional handmade Christmas crafts and ornaments and delicious food!"
  • December 12, 2011 - The Vancouver Observer
"If you are searching for a festive activity to enjoy this holiday season, one of Vancouver's "must do" events is the second annual Vancouver Christmas Market."
  • December 11, 2011 - Munchkie's Munchies
"Nobody does Christmas like the Germans! Or at least from what I saw and ate at the German Christmas Market in Vancouver. "
  • December 6, 2011 - Granville Online
"The annual Vancouver Christmas Market, a traditional German Christmas market, has the foodstuffs to get you feeling festive, including traditional fruit stollen, German sausages and Feuerzangenbowle—a boozy German drink that you light on fire."
  • December 6, 2011 - Active Rain
"Vancouver Christmas Market - German Uber-Fun! Want to reach down deep and access your inner German love for Christmas? Well, you've come to the right place! The Vancouver Christmas Market is like stepping into the Concorde (only way faster), and arriving in small town Germany. Don your laderhosen, grab your beer stein, and check out this wonderful market."
  • November 30, 2011 - Inside Vancouver
"While North America preps for the holidays with retail blowouts, Europe primps for Christmas with street markets full of twinkly lights, handicrafts and tasty eats. But Vancouverites are lucky. We get to partake in both new world and old world festivities now that the German-style Vancouver Christmas Market is open daily in Queen Elizabeth Square."
  • November 29, 2011 - Alex The Mileage Millionaire
"Germany Christmas markets are century old traditions where the community gather together for food, drink, laughter and fun... The Vancouver Christmas Market recreates this experience with authentic décor, complete with vendors in wooden shacks - resembling a tiny village."
  • November 28, 2011 - A Little More Good
"I consider myself a bit of an expert on the topic of Christmas markets. Over the past twenty something years I’ve visited so many of them I couldn’t even recall them all if I wanted to... What is left now are the sweet memories of pretty lights, yummy comfort foods, and many unique finds I gave to loved ones over the years. The Vancouver Christmas Market has all that and more."
  • September 27, 2011 - Miss 604
"I enjoyed walking around with weisswurst on a bun, a mug of Gluehwein (mulled wine), listening to traditional carols with my mother, and picking out ornaments with my niece and nephews. The kids had fun making candles and chocolates, and visiting with the gingerbread characters that were walking around. Give it a shot if you missed it last year and try to go earlier in the day to avoid crowds, especially in the marketplace/ornament tent."

More Reviews For The Vancouver Christmas Market

  • "Visiting the Christmas Market every year has become a tradition for my wife and I! It's just a wonderful event, with lots of great food, drink, activities, and goodies to buy!"
    Graham, November 24, 2012
  • "We bought a pass this year and were able to attend on four separate occasions. Had a blast each time, even got on tv with Ahorn TV. So happy to see the German Folk dancers from Saskatchewan, I'm always looking for a cultural experience as we are German and have a new generation that we want to expose to our culture as much as possible. It seems so difficult these days to find German cultural events. Now I just need to track down a good Oktoberfest celebration."
    Heidi, December 30, 2011
  • "The Christmas atmosphere and traditions are slowly going away. It is so nice to be a part of something that is preserving that tradition for some and making new ones for others."
    Natalie, December 17, 2011
  • "We went to the Vancouver Christmas Market tonight. The absolute best "grilled bratwurst" we've had since leaving Austria or Germany. My husband is native German and agreed. We bought a 6 pack of grilled bratwurst, to bring home to cook also. You all went to such a fine effort to put on this event, as authentic as possible. Thank you so much for your effort! We enjoyed ourselves immensely!"
    Julianna, December 15, 2011
  • "My husband and I attended the market last week. We are from out of town and I have wanted to check it out since I heard about it last year. We have been staying in town, waiting for our firstborn to make his appearance. While at the market, we bought a Christmas ornament to commemorate our baby's first Christmas. It was such a pleasure to be able to pick from so many beautiful ornaments - and so special for my husband, who's family is Pennsylvania Dutch, to find so many options for traditional German decorations! We finally picked one of Santa bringing gifts - something that is going to be strong enough for our son to play with as he grows and helps us decorate the tree. To me, Santa bringing gifts is one of those stories we tell at Christmas that encourages a belief in magic and miracles. The day after being at the market, we welcomed our own miracle into the world. Thanks for adding a special memory to one of the most important times in our lives."
    Erin, December 14, 2011
  • "We had a wonderful time at the Christmas market yesterday. I will return a few more times before Christmas and have some more of the delicious Gluehwein!" Bernard, December 12, 2011
  • "Love the atmosphere at the Christmas Market :) Can't wait to take my parents from Germany there too!"
    Ina, December 12, 2011
  • "The Christmas Market was great again this year.......We just love the atmosphere! The changes you have made from last year worked very well, it was easy to get around! Keep up the good work.....here's to many more years of the market!!!"
    Irene, December 12, 2011
  • "Great Place to get into the Christmas Spirit! Gluehwein was awesome as well as the beer from a real "Stein"! I'm German and I love the effort that has been put into this fabulous event! The kids enjoyed the Merry-go-round!"
    Jeanette, December 11, 2011
  • "Had a great time!!! Awesome atmosphere and great food!"
    Peter, December 11, 2011
  • "We had a great time at the Christmas Market yesterday. I took my mother, sister and niece. We love the set up and there were no line ups this year probably due to the better lay out. We were happy to get the bratwurst and gluhwein again and made sure we went to all the booths. Instead of ordering my Christmas ornaments online from Kathe Wohlfahrt I was able to buy them again at the Christmas market. They have such nice quality wooden ornaments hand made in Germany. A fun time was had by all and we are definitely making it a Christmas tradition."
    Nicole, December 10, 2011
  • "Love the new flow. Have been twice already and if time allows will try to sneak in another day. Did a little shopping, did a little drinking and a whole lot of eating. Good time. If you are thinking of going you will have fun. A little chilly in the evening so make sure you bundle up. The Feurerzangenbowle (for adults who drink alcohol) and the drinking chocolate are wonderful warm me ups. Music was also a very enjoyable."
    Marcella, December 9, 2011
  • "Thank you for a fantastic festive night last night. Christmas tunes, great tree and yummy food all washed down with some gluhwein and raclette."
    Siobhan, December 9, 2011
  • "What a great day at the Market! The food was amazing, Christmas Carols by Klapa Ruzmarin we beautiful & the kids had a blast on the carousel! Thank you for making our Christmas Season so special!"
    Nikki, December 8, 2011
  • "Tonight was my first visit to the market and was an absolutely amazing evening. I'm visiting my best friend in the city and we both thought just wonderful. Thank you for having this and being able to take time out of our busy lives to run away to Germany."
    Michelle, December 4, 2011
  • "Enjoyed the Christmas Market with my children and grand children. The Curry Wurst and the Gluehwein were delicious. The children liked the Carousel."
    Romy, December 2, 2011
  • "Our family loves the whole Vancouver Christmas Market, but the new carousel was a particular hit with Danielle this year. Joy! A big part of the fun was picking her favourite horse (the rainbow one was chosen). The ride itself was a reminder of a special moment at the Frankfurt Christmas Market last year. Thanks for a fantastic family afternoon!"
    Lori, December 2, 2011
  • "3rd time at vancouver christmas market already. I'm always having such a good time there. Food and Glühwein are delicious and carousel is not only fun for the kids! :)"
    Liz, December 1, 2011
  • "I had such a beautiful Friday evening on Christmas market. You guys made a very good job with the new layout! Transfering the Wohlfahrt's decorations to the building was a big win. I have tried delicious Waffeln and Bratwurst. And yes, I will come again for some backed apple and other - since I bought Multiple entry pass."
